Of Shadow and Stone by Michelle Muto Review!

Of Shadow and Stone
Of Shadow and Stone
by Michelle Muto

Gargoyles were created centuries ago to protect mankind, but something went horribly wrong. Now only the sentinel—a mortal chosen to control the stone beasts—stands between them and their human prey.

When the latest sentinel is killed, Kate Mercer is destined to take his place. But Kate has enough going on in her life—like a skyrocketing film career, a delusional ex-boyfriend, and a crazed stalker who will stop at nothing to get to her. But the powers that be have decided, and Kate is transported to Shadow Wood, a mysterious castle that serves as a sanctuary for the supernatural. Although beautiful, Shadow Wood is no safe place for a mere mortal. Yet Kate is drawn not only to the gargoyles but also to Ian McGuire, a charming novelist who might be in the greatest danger of all.

As Kate decides whether to accept the most perilous role of her life, she discovers there are more secrets than answers within the castle’s walls. Her survival and Ian’s depend on her ability to master the gargoyles before time runs out. Is fate really cast in stone?

My Review

I have a thing for gargoyles, and this is a great book in those terms :) But it's not only gargoyles. There's all kinda things, including my fave- werewolves. You see, it's all surrounding Shadow Wood Castle, which is a sanctuary of sorts. Declan owns the castle, creator of Gargoyles, and guardian of sorts. But now, things are changing, and he needs a sentinel for the gargoyle race, because without one, gargoyles will service justice as they see it, and sometimes, that's way more than necessary. But the gargoyles have chosen, and it's Kate. But Kate doesn't want to be anything.  And meanwhile, Ian, he's an author who begs to stay at the castle so he can write his next novel. He gets way more than he was supposed to. :) But Ian's new mission is to convince Kate to stay and be sentinel.

Kate is a great main character, but I still think Declan is my favorite. LOL Kate thinks she's dreaming, she keeps going to this castle, but she's actually projecting her body there while in sleep. She is freaked out. She doesn't want anything to do with the paranormal world. But then she starts learning things. And meets Declan in person, and Ian. and the gargoyles. Ian is a fantasy writer, so he thought he was open minded. He was a little mind blown instead. Declan is the wise secretive man. :) The characters in this story were all so very well written. I loved the paranormal the author created. It was so unique and refreshing. And just creative.

I am seriously hoping this will become a series. Or a prequel. Or something that will be related to a series. Yes, I know, I just want more!!! With that said, 4.5 Paws!! Gimme some more!
